Triangulations is an extensive research and art-making project, which focused on the retelling of the historic prussian expedition to Egypt (1842-1845) that the Egyptologist Karl Richard Lepsius led.
Tinka Bechert retraced this journey as an artist-in residence in and around Cairo, Egypt in 2010.
Having obtained special permissions from the Head of Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass, the artist visited various active archaeo-logical excavations and sites of particular importance relating to Lepsius discoveries.
In 2011 continued her research as an artist- in residence at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Academy of Sciences and Humanities (2011)
where much of the original expedition documentation and diaries are stored.
