Tinka Bechert

Diese Ausstellung entstand aufgrund der Entdeckung und Erschliessung der eigenen Familiengeschichte der Künstlerin. Dabei konzentrierte sich Becherts Interesse insbesondere auf das Künstlerehepaar Sabine und Reinhold Lepsius, Berliner Porträtmaler des späten 19. Jahrhunderts. In einer Hommage an die Kunstgeschichte selbst verband Bechert in diesem Arbeitsyzklus Bilder und Fotografien ihrer Ur-Grosseltern mit ihren eigenen und ganz und gar zeitgenössischen Elementen der Malerei. Die Austellung war in drei Räumen so konzipiert , dass sich ein Zeitstrahl der Entwicklung künsltlerischer Epochen ergibt. Der erste Raum hiess so also 'Tradition' (Kohlezeichnungen) dann folgte 'Malerei trifft Zeichnung' und im letzten Raum war die Installation 'Total Jetzt', die auf der Idee eines Stammbaumes beruhte, zu sehen.

On a journey of discovery, the artist researched her own family, concentrating on the 19th century Berlin portrait painters Sabine and Reinhold Lepsius whose portraits are represented in the National Gallery Berlin. Referencing the ancestry of painting in art history, Bechert places the traditional genre of portraiture in a contemporary framework through appropriations of Lepsius Paintings and photographs. The layout of the exhibition separated three rooms, starting with a room of charcoal drawings titled 'tradition'. The next room combines techniques ('painting meets drawing').The exhibition ended with a monochrome room titled 'very now', which is a sort of conclusion of the layout as a timeline of techniques. The installation in the last room was based on the idea of a family tree which references more recent approaches in art while picking up the imagery from previous rooms of the show.
